POLICY DATABASE
Policy Summary

This law establishes, provides use standards for, and defines the location of the Potomac Vegetable Farm Local Agricultural and Forestal District. Among other things, it prohibits land within the district from being developed to a more intensive use than its existing use for a renewable period of eight years, except that expansion of or improvements to the agricultural or forestal use of the land are expressly allowed, as is the construction of one additional house within the district for either an owner, a member of an owner's family or for a tenant who farms the land. The district addressed by this law is one of over 80 current and former "agricultural and forestal districts" recognized by the Code of Ordinances, and is summarized here by way of example and because it specifically references "vegetable" farming. See provisions related to additional districts in Appendixes E and F.
